In order to prevent illegal street racing, reduce accidents to assure traffic safety, Nha Trang Traffic public Security has chosen Pham Van Dong and Tran Phu Streets to be sample routes for transportation safety.

Tran Phu Street is known as the most beautiful and one of the busiest streets in Nha Trang City. 8 accidents were reported to happen in Tran Phu Street, causing 8 deaths in 2016. Similarly, traffic accident risk-prone Pham Van Dong Street used to see illegal auto racing.
However, since September 2016 when Khanh Hoa People’s Committee issued a decision on traffic flow distribution, traffic congestion has been eased along Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong Streets. Traffic congestion in the direction from the city center to Cau Da has decreased but the problem is still present in the opposite direction, particularly during rush hours, early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Vehicles in the streets have much increased compared with previous years, says Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Sy Hong, Chief of Nha Trang City Traffic Division.
In an effort to decrease traffic accidents and illegal street racing; and prevent traffic jam to improve traffic safety, Nha Trang City Traffic Division has registered with Nha Trang City Public Security to choose Pham Van Dong and Tran Phu as sample safe streets. Initially, the division has completed basic investigation in Pham Van Dong Street, locating areas prone to traffic accidents and illegal street racing.
The division has cooperated with local flying squads to open illegal street racing control and prevention drives. Regular inspection has been carried out to prevent drivers from exceeding speed limits, according to Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Sy Hong.
Therefore, since the beginning of the year, illegal street racing and speeding violation has decreased considerably. Traffic accidents have also been reduced. The division plans to focus on traffic distribution in Tran Phu Street, especially from Cau Da to the city center, with fines imposed on speeding and parking offenders. At present, the division is conducting an investigation into offences prone to traffic accidents together with the time, location and vehicles causing traffic congestion in Tran Phu Street.
