In recent years, tens of billion of dongs has been spent on public works to serve local residents’ recreational need and add landscape to residential areas in Van Gia Town, Van Ninh District.

Practical works
 
Van Gia Town authority has allocated 2,153 m2 of the former district medical station to build a park. The VND11 billion construction finished in early 2017. Besides, more than VD900 million was poured into lengthened Ly Thuong Kiet Street running through the park to create more green space for residential areas.
 
A resident named Le Van Hoang, Quarter 8, says “Local authority has spent most of the so-called golden land for parks for serve locals’ recreational need and create landscape. In addition, along the beach park, the town has mobilized enterprises to invest more than VND150 million in over 10 physical exercise and sport facilities, and the local Youth’s Union in 10 outdoor toys for kids. The park is often crowded with children playing around and adults doing physical exercise. A child named Hoang Van Phuong, Van Lang Junior High School says, “In our free time, we enjoy coming here and playing at ease instead of bathing in the sea.” 
 
Reportedly, apart from the above constructions, Van Gia has invested in community-funded stone benches totaling more than VND10 million; more than  30 dustbins in the park; and VD15 million LED lights in the park and some streets.
 
More investment plans for public works
 
After the construction of the coast embankment, most of the land along the embankment plans to be used for building parks. The town will continue promoting public participation funding for upgrading and widening roads; installing LED lights along streets to facilitate travel; and building parks. Especially, in 2017, the town will invest in building 3 community houses for local residents and upgrading sewerages.
 
Over the past years, the town People’s Committee has focused on urban development, especially public infrastructures such as parks; physical exercise and sport facilities to meet local residents’ recreational need as well as create urban aesthetics, contributing to painting a brighter picture of a green, beautiful and friendly town. “In the time to come, we will continue investing in more public facilities. In 2017 alone, the town has decided to allocate more than VND13 billion to public works,” says Nguyen Cong Bang, Chairman of Van Gia Town People’s Committee.
