The 1st phase construction of Tu Bong Water Plant is expected to finish in the 3rd quarter of 2017 and serve some 25,000 people in 3 communes namely Van Khanh, Van Long and Van Phuoc in northern Van Ninh District.

4 communes in Northern Van Ninh District are Van Khanh, Van Long, Van Phuoc and Van Tho with a population of some 25,000 expected to reach 32,000 by 2030. The inhabitants in coastal areas depend mainly on bottled water or well water which is found affected with saltiness and Fe2 contamination.
“Local residents are in need of fresh water. They buy bottled water to drink and take water from wells for other daily activities. However, in recent years, the water from wells has been affected with saltiness and Fe2 contamination due to climate change, especially in the two villages of Tan Phuoc Bac and Tan Phuoc Trung with the population of 2,220 households, including 9,000 people," reports Nguyen Hung, Chairman of Van Phuoc Commune People’s Committee.
In late 2016, the district assigned Van Ninh Urban Construction Company to develop a project on the 1st phase construction of Tu Bong Water Plant with a capital of about VND23 billion, according to Vo Luc Pham, Vice-Chairman of Van Ninh District People’s Committee. "The local government and people are so happy at the good news. More than 1.97ha of land has been allocated to the construction," adds Nguyen Hung.
Ha Ngoc Phi, Director of Van Ninh Urban Construction Company says 13km pipes in the 1st phase project has reached every home and 30% of the total work, including piping, a management house, water treatment, a pumping station, etc has been completed.
Tu Bong Water Plant is expected to serve some 25,000 in the 3 communes of Van Khanh, Van Long and Van Phuoc. After the completion of the 1st phase construction, the district will estimate the investment demand for the 2nd phase construction, says Vo Luc Pham.
