The Youth Month 2017 has just ended with several practical community activities held by Youth Union affiliations in Khanh Hoa Province.

This year’s Youth Month was themed “Young people join hands to build new rural areas and urban civilization”. More than 100 community activities were organized, contributing to the new rural development. The Youth Union at all levels throughout the province joined effort for the sake of the community. Their work was highly appraised by local authorities and residents, according to Nguyen Van Nhuan, Khanh Hoa Youth Union Secretary.


The Youth Month included 5 provincial youth projects namely lighting up roads in rural areas and on islands at a total cost of VND420 million; repairing and cleaning up 20km rural roads; building a 500m road; constructing 2 houses for the needy, dredging 80km irrigation canals;  designing 10 amusement sites for children in villages and nursery schools at a total cost of more than VND400 million.


In addition, Youth Union affiliations in cooperation with local authorities to assist residents with digging more than 15km water supply pipelines for over 200 families; building 5 water tanks and digging 5 water wells at a total cost of VND85 million together with over 500 donated workdays. Van Ninh District Youth Union focused on the urban civilization constructions namely “lighting up urban areas”, “dustbins raising fund for poor students", cultivating 100 trees in response to the campaign for a green town in Van Gia Town, etc. The activities were worth more than VND200 million in total, says Nguyen Huu Tuan, Vice-Secretary of Van Ninh District Youth Union.


During the Youth Month, many volunteering activities were organized for social security, benefiting young adults and children. Youth Union affiliations carried out 160 free medical examination trips worth VND400 million for more than 35,000 poor people, beneficiaries of social welfare, young workers and children in need; mobilized Youth Union members and young people to register to join the blood bank and blood donation; held twinning ceremonies between Youth Union affiliations located on lowland, and those on islands or in mountainous areas. 10 blood donation drives were held with the participation of 25,000 Youth Union members and young people who donated 24,240 units of blood, according to Huynh Phuong Minh,  Khanh Hoa Youth Union Secretary.

Moreover, Youth Union affiliations sponsored 40 children of professional soldiers and national security staff in need. In addition, more than 1,000 scholarships and 40 bikes were offered to the disadvantaged; and gifts were given to families affected by the 2016 flooding. The charity was worth nearly VND700 million in total.

Under the program “Accompanying young people on career path”, the Youth Union at all levels cooperated with Khanh Hoa Job Center and vocational high schools to hold 3 vocational counseling sessions for nearly 1,500 Youth Union members and young people in Khanh Hoa. After provided counseling, over 1,100 Youth Union members and young people were employed by enterprises. Besides, the Youth Union at all levels offered 49 gifts and 40 free medical examination cards worth nearly VND100 million to young adults in need and new Youth Union members.
