After 2 years of operation, the 1st phase of Information Technology Foreign - Language Center under Telecommunications University has showed initial achievements. The 2nd phase designed to build the center to become a national standard information technology software park is expected to be implemented in the fourth quarter this year.


Information Technology Foreign - Language Center opened in April 2015 with a capital of over VND18 billion, including VND6 billion from the non-refundable aid of the Indian government and people. After 2 years of operation, the center has provided information technology training and professional development for lecturers and students for a pilot scheme on courses taught in teaching. Besides, the center has provided training and issued national and international standard computer science and foreign language certifications.


The center has organized 16 information technology courses with nearly 500 students; and 21 English language courses for all the university staff. 12 information technology and English language courses are underway with nearly 300 learners, reports Nguyen Xuan Duong, Director of Information Technology Foreign - Language Center.

The center has cooperated with several partners in training and scientific research at home and aboard such as Cisco Networking Academy (U.S.A), ICDL Asia, Vietnam Training & Examination Center (VITEC)/ Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Tech Mahindra Group (India), Quang Trung Software Park (Ho Chi Minh City, etc to diversify the training, and increase teaching quality to meet the demand for human resources in information technology.


The university has also cooperated with 4 information technology enterprises in Nha Trang City to build curricula. The enterprises have provided employment opportunities for newly graduated students and part-time jobs for those still at school. The second phase is designed to build a concentrated information technology park to assure national defense, security and local socio-economic development. Accordingly, the center will be built on an area of 3ha with a total capital of approximately VND630 billion, including USD5.34 million from the non-refundable aid of the Indian government and the rest from Viettel, the State and Ministry of National Defense. The project is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2017 and finish by 2020, according to the university leader.


The 2nd phase is to build human resources in information technology, focusing on the 2 leaner groups of military officials, staff and students; and public sector servants. The project aims to provide human recourses supply for the information technology software park itself, military units and enterprises; conduct information technology software research and development to serve national defense and security; and increase national and provincial information technology values. Information Technology Foreign - Language Center promises to provide sufficient infrastructures and legal bases for the operation of information technology enterprises nationwide.
