Every Sunday, Youth Union affiliations hold environmental protection activities to tidy residential areas, schools and beaches as well as remove illegal advertisements sticked on light poles and in other public places. Green Sunday campaign has been effectively developed by all local Youth Union organizations. The main activity is to collect trash and protect the environment, says Pham Truc Viet, Secretary of Van Ninh District Youth Union. Nha Trang City Youth Union has launched a clean-up campaign to tidy the embankment near Xom Bong Bridge, Nha Trang City.

Various environmental clean-up activities have been held in response to the Green Sunday campaign. Especially, at weekends, youth Unions of wards, communes and schools have organized clean-up days based on their specific circumstances. The event has proved effective, helping to raise public awareness of environmental protection, adds Le Quang Minh, Secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union.

In addition, several localities and agencies have promoted the campaign, receiving participation and support of locals. “Littering and  sticking illegal advertisements on street infrastructures are offensive. Many young people have joined effort to tidy public places and remove illegal advertisements. Their practical work is worth praise, contributing to creating a civic culture,” says Nguyen Thanh Trung, a resident in Vinh Tho Ward, Nha Trang City.
