Vinmec Nha Trang International Hospital held a workshop on Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) workshop for pregnant women on August 27.
More than 150 pregnant women were provided basic knowledge about reproductive testing, procedures, noninvasive prenatal testing, etc.
NIPT known as Prenatal cell-free DNA screening is a method to screen for certain chromosomal abnormalities in a developing baby. During prenatal cell-free DNA screening, DNA from the mother and fetus is extracted from a maternal blood sample and screened for the increased chance for specific chromosome problems of Down, Edwards, Patau, Turner, Klinefelter, etc. Prenatal cell-free DNA screening is recommended for women who are at least 10 weeks pregnant.
