Primary school teachers and pupils in the communes of Southwest Cay and Sin Cowe Island, Truong Sa Town, Truong Sa District are getting ready to welcome the new school year 2017 - 2018.

The local authorities of towns and communes together with teachers and pupils in Truong Sa District have finished the preparation for the start of new school year. Apart from infrastructure improvement, teachers together with pupils and their parents have joined school clean-up and decoration effort, tidying up classes; trimming and growing plants, etc. The schools have provided uniforms; school name and logo tags; books, notebooks and other study items for children in the new school year.

Located on the island, in spite of some difficulties, the schools have cooperated with local authority, island Commands, Fatherland Front and organizations to ensure an exciting new school year opening ceremony to welcome pupils. This academic year, the school plans to make further effort to improve teaching and learning quality; create a green, clean, beautiful and friendly environment so that children can find enjoyment and fun at school. Pupils on the remote island are at a disadvantage compared with those on the mainland. Therefore, I will try my best to make learning experience enjoyable for children, says Teacher Dong Minh Hiep, Truong Sa Town Primary School.

In the 2017 – 2018 school year, pupils increase by two compared with the last school year. Teacher Le Xuan Quyet says education has been a priority with much concern from local authority at all levels, pupils’ parents and social organizations. In late 2015, Ho Chi Minh City education sector funded the construction of a new spacious school with a big playground and some new teaching equipment, helping to improve the teaching and learning conditions at Song Tu Tay Primary School.

In spite of geographical disadvantage, far from the mainland, local authorities, island Commands, organizations and students’ parents have maintained great concern over the children’s study with continued effort to provide pupils the best possible conditions. Teachers and pupils are all very eager to welcome the new school year, says Nguyen Thanh Thien, an expert at Sinh Ton Commune People’s Committee and Council’s Committee.
