Le Thanh Quang, Central Party Committee Member, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Secretary, paid a visit and offered 20 scholarships, VND3 million each, by Provincial Party Committee to needy students at Le Thanh Liem Junior High School, Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City on September 26. The gifts were such a great schooling support to help students to overcome difficulties and make more effort in study.

Nguyen Minh Thai, class 8/3, is an obedient and diligent student from a poor family. His family does not afford his new uniforms for the new school year. He is so happy to receive a scholarship from the provincial leader. “My parents are very worried as they can't afford new clothes and school fees in the new school year for me and my brother. Therefore, the scholarship means a lot to us,” he says.

“My family is classified as marginally poor. Everyday, I earn money from making girdle cakes. My husband is a fisherman with a precarious living. We are struggling to make ends met. I’m very happy that my son is offered a scholarship and grateful to the support by provincial leaders. The aid is such a great encouragement to my son's schooling,” says his mother named Pham Thi Tam

In spite of financial difficulties, Le Quang Dung, class 9/1, has been graded as an excellent student for 8 consecutive years. His family is classified as marginally poor. His father is a barber and his mother is a cleaner for a company. Everyday, after school, Le Quang Dung often helps his parents with the housework.

“The scholarship motivates me to try more in study to fulfill my dream to become a teacher. I will study harder to deserve the care and support of my parents, teachers and provincial leaders,” says Le Quang Dung. "The scholarship provides me material and spiritual support. The financial aid will be used to buy school things and cover daily expenses," says Phan Chau Minh Anh, class 9/2.

In 2017 – 2018 school year, Le Thanh Liem Junior High School has 16 classes with 480 students, 70% of whom are from disadvantaged families mainly living on fishing. In recent years, the school has received much concern and support from local authorities, especially the Provincial Party Committee. 10 sets of computers, scholarships, etc have been donated to the school to assist in teaching and learning. In addition, annually, the school mobilizes its staff to donate to the funds for needy students. Besides, this academic year, the School Managing Board and Parents’ Association seek donations from benefactors to fund tuitions for needy students, according to Tran Thi Nguyet, Vice-Principal of Le Thanh Liem Junior High School.
