A peanut shell remover invented in 2008 by a farmer named Nguyen Tan Bien, Bac Village, Ninh Tan Commune, Ninh Hoa Town is awarded a consolation prize by Khanh Hoa Union of Science & Technology Associations and at the Farmers’ Creation Competition by Vietnam Farmers’ Association in 2009; and honored at the amateur inventors’ meeting held by the Ministry of Science & Technology in 2015.

Nguyen Tan Bien has registered for intellectual copyright.  The registration formalities include the payment of a fee, VND3-4 million. Copyright protection fee is VND2 million/ year for 5 successive years. He has not completed the procedure for lack of funding.

Another farmer named Nguyen Thanh, Dien Toan Commune, Dien Khanh District has innovated many products such as sugar refinement vacuum packaging pump, sugar cane bagasse production, etc. He has just successfully produced an Acacia bark peeler which is desperately needed by growers. However, he is reluctant to present his product to be protected as an intellectual property as he is not sure about regulations on invention support and fraudulent imitation prevention.
