At weekend when we came, Lien Sang Commune People’s Committee, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province was crowded with residents coming from the 4 communes of Lien Sang, Cau Ba, Khanh Thuong and Son Thai to apply for identity (ID) cards.

The police of the 4 communes were present for ID service. “My ID card has expired. I intended to go to the district police office for renewal. I’m so happy that the district police have arrived here to provide ID application procedures for local residents. I don’t have to postpone my farming work and travel far for the ID renewal during the busy crop season,” said Bo Bo Sang born in 1944 residing in Bau Sang Village, Lien Sang Commune. He was instructed how to fill out the application form and other relevant documents.

“One week earlier, we had announced about the district police’s working trip to the communes over the local loudspeakers and reminded local residents of documents required to be presented. The activity has made ID card application more convenient,” said Ta Van Tuyen, Chief of Lien Sang Commune Public Security.

Reportedly, last weekend, 153 applications for the grant, re-grant or renewal of ID cards were received and processed. As planned, 2 weeks later, local residents would receive ID cards at the commune police offices. The forms must be completely filled out. However, some information in household registration books is missing, i.e. full date of birth, etc. In that case, police has to refer to certificates of birth for full information.

“Annually, we take trips to remote mountainous areas for ID card service. This is our 4th working trip to communes this year,” said Lieutenant-colonel Phan Duc Phuoc, Deputy Chief of Social Order & Administrative Management Team. Reportedly, since 2013, Khanh Vinh District Social Order & Administrative Management Team has frequently organized working trips to communes. In spite of staffing shortage and work pressure, the team has overcome difficulties to work at weekend, following the slogan 'Do at least a good deed everyday for citizens'. The working trips have provided great convenience for local residents in the application for ID cards, which are needed in their civil transactions, according to Colonel Le Quang Thanh, Chief of Khanh Vinh District Public Security
