5,000 roofing sheets delivered to typhoon-hit residents in Khanh Vinh

On November 25, 5,000 corrugated fibro roofing sheets were brought to Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa to help families whose houses were badly damaged by Typhoon Damrey. The roofing sheets were donated by Vietnam National Roofsheet Association and Quang Phuc Company, Quang Ngai Province.


Khanh Vinh District People’s Committee has distributed the roofing sheets to 156 families with badly-damaged houses. Each family received or 32 or 35m2 roofing sheets. A resident named Cao Lang, Quarter 6, Khanh Vinh Town, Khanh Vinh District, says, the typhoon blew off his roof and part off his wall. All of his 7 family members are staying in a tent built by his old house. “I’m very happy to receive 32 roofing sheets from Vietnam National Roofsheet Association and Quang Phuc Company. The roofing sheets will be used to repair our house,” he says.


The entire roof of Cao Thi Bich, Khanh Vinh Town, Khanh Vinh District was also blown off by the typhoon and a wall was damaged by fallen trees. Her family with 5 members has to stay in a tent near her old house because they are poor and cannot afford house reconstruction. “Thanks to Vietnam National Roofsheet Association and Quang Phuc Company, we can have roofing sheets for house repair. They will be used to repair our house tomorrow and we will have a safe place to live in.”

Mau Van Phi, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Vinh District People’s Committee, Khanh Hoa Province says, Typhoon Damrey battered Khanh Vinh District and caused massive destruction. 2 houses collapsed and over 1,000 others were badly damaged. Joint recovery effort is under way to help local residents to surmount the typhoon consequences. 72 families whose houses collapsed in the typhoon will receive VND40 million each for house reconstruction before Tet holiday. The district is also asking for support for families with severely damaged houses.


“The district has received 5,000 corrugated fibro roofing sheets donated by Vietnam National Roofsheet Association and Quang Phuc Company. It is meaningful support for the needy. On behalf of the district leaders, I would like to express gratitude to organizations, businesses and individuals for the valuable relief,” reports Mau Van Phi.


“I feel sad to see so many people have to live in temporary tents after their houses collapsed in the typhoon. The natural disaster left massive destruction in Khanh Hoa in general and in Khanh Vinh in particular. Vietnam National Roofsheet Association has mobilized its member, Quang Phuc Company, to donate 5,000 roofing sheets worth over VND210 million to help with the house repair. The support is from the staff of Vietnam National Roofsheet Association and Quang Phuc Company with the hope to help locals to overcome difficulties and soon return to normal life. Over the past years, we have also provided relief for residents struggling in misfortune in central provinces, Cao Bang, Yen Bai, etc. We pledge to continue our support towards the community to help those in need,” says Vo Quang Diem, Chairman of Vietnam National Roofsheet Association.
