Community helps repair nearly 4,500 storm-damaged roofs

Khanh Vinh District has mobilized the community to help locals to repair nearly 4,500 houses damaged with roofs blown off in the recent typhoon.


Besides, the district has also cleared fallen trees and debris off roads to facilitate traffic; shared the losses and sufferings of victims; and provided disadvantaged families with food. More support and assistance in terms of roofing materials and rice supply; communications and electricity repair is in need.


According to Khanh Vinh Steering Board For Flood Control, Natural Disaster Relief & Rescue, Typhoon Damrey left 15 people injured, destroyed 344 houses; damaged and blew roof off nearly 7,000 houses; caused extensive damage to 210ha of rice, 465ha of Pomelo, 50ha of jackfruit, 90ha of durian, 1,582ha of sugar canes, 1,080ha of wheat, 3,500ha of Acacia, etc.

 

The typhoon also damaged the infrastructures of 43 schools, 18 medical stations, 16 suspension bridges; swept away a sewer, etc; cut off the entire electricity and communications systems in Khanh Vinh. The damage is estimated at nearly VND350billion.
