On November 6, Le Huu Tho, Chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee presided over a meeting with relevant agencies and departments to assign typhoon recovery tasks in Nha Trang City.


Accordingly, the city will focus on cleaning and clearing streets off fallen trees. Nha Trang Division of Education & Training in association with schools assessed and repaired damaged facilities. Schools severely damaged and not able to be opened yet have to be reported to province and city leaders for guidance. Nha Trang City Division of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs in cooperation with Khanh Hoa People’s committee will assess and evaluate house damage and collapse for assistance. The city will assess damages to ships, aquaculture farms and crops for support to help locals soon recover from the natural disaster, stabilize their lives and restore production.


On November 6, Nguyen Sy Khanh, Vice-Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee presided over a meeting with leaders of 27 communes and wards on emergency aid for cases with house collapse or severe damage. Accordingly, Nguyen Sy Khanh directed the People's Committees of wards and communes to conduct a survey and send a list of families whose houses collapsed or with 50% damage or more (photos attached) to be submitted to Nha Trang City and Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committees on November 7 for assistance consideration.


On November 8-10, the Division of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs will directly allocate emergency assistance, not exceeding VND20 million to each case of house collapse and not exceeding VND15 million to each case of houses with 50% damage or more. In addition, lists of poor and marginally poor people in need of urgent aid in 27 communes and wards are required to be sent to the city for rice support, 15kg/person/month within 3 months.


Up to November 6, Nha Trang City Division of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs received a list of 188 cases of house collapse and severe damage in need of assistance in 12 wards and communes, says Le Thi Mai Loan, Chief of Nha Trang City Division of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.


According to the report of Nha Trang City People’s Committee, up to November 5, the typhoon killed 2 people and injured 17. 110 schools were influenced. The typhoon caused 449 houses to collapse and blew roofs off 12,262 houses. 241 aquaculture farms and 70ha of crops were damaged. 47 ships sank and 5,000 street trees and 109 electricity poles were flattened.
