The knowledge contest on the law on marriage and family held from April 2017 has attracted nearly 34,400 entries, proving an effective way of propaganda.
10 questions were raised about some contents related to the law on marriage and family such as property division, pregnancy service for humanitarian purposes, personal relations, property relation; determination of fathers and mothers when using the assisted reproductive technology (ART), etc in. Especially, many contestants gave thoughtful answers to problem-solving questions and constructed responses about marriage and divorce rights based on the law on marriage and family.
The contest drew the participation of 127 entries from 9 quarters and organizations in Ninh Hai Ward, Ninh Hoa Town after just 25 days of the contest. The most entries came from Nha Trang City. “After 4 months of launching, the city received 13,700 entries from 200 units with participants from various walks of life such as teachers, farmers, students, public service staff, etc. Some entries are impressive with photos and pictures as illustrations. Some writings include thoughtful analysis about reasons leading to divorce and measures to minimize divorce,” says Nguyen Chi Dung, Chief of Nha Trang City Division of Justice.

The first-prize winner, Pham Thi Hong Diu, Khanh Hoa Women’s Union says, “The contest gives me an opportunity to widen my knowledge and practice problem-solving skills.” In her writing, she confirmed, “Although divorce is the right of every individual, divorce can not be arbitrary and must be governed by law. No one wants to have a broken marriage, separated families with children living away from their parent. Therefore, we should try our best to build a happy family. However, when we can not maintain a happy marriage life, we need to calmly and frankly present our personal views in order to find the best solution for ourselves and our children.”
The second-prize winner named Nguyen Duc Vu, Hap Cuong Quarter, To Hap Town, Khanh Son District says, “A so-called “happy couple” must be together to overcome difficulties in life. The purpose of marriage is building a sustainable happy life based on mutual support and attachment.”
“The contest proved effective through writings sent to the organizing board. Hopefully, each contestant will become an active collaborator in raising public awareness of the law on marriage and family. Apart from joining the contest, many other channels such as the radio, the Internet, etc are available for everybody to widen their lawful knowledge,” says Le Van Ha, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Justice.
The provincial knowledge contest on the law on marriage and family ended with prizes awarded on November 9 to 4 groups and 13 individuals. The first team prize went to Nha Trang City, second prize to Cam Ranh City; and 2 third prizes to Ninh Hoa Town and Khanh Vinh District. The first individual prize was presented Pham Thi Hong Diu, Khanh Hoa Women’s Union. Besides, 2 second, 3 third, 5 consolation prizes and 2 awards for entries with the most beautiful layout and the best constructed-response.
