Women's associations in Khanh Hoa help to repair damage after Typhoon Damrey

After Typhoon Damrey sweeping across Khanh Hoa, the provincial Women's Association has organized many practical and useful activities to help its members to overcome difficulties as well as mobilized the members to join cleanup activities throughout the province.

The strong wind unroofed the house of Le Thi Thuy, member of Phuoc Long Ward Women’s Association, and the rain poured into her house. However, after repairing damage and cleaning the house, Thuy joined other women in the locality to remove the debris on the streets.

The house of Tran Anh Thu, member of Dien Dong Commune Women’s Association, Dien Khanh District, was not affected by the typhoon. She and her family offered help to other people in the community who were severely affected by the typhoon. “The typhoon has caused a lot of devastation. We should join hands to help each other to overcome difficulties, keep the environment clean and prevent epidemic diseases,” said Thu.
 
Reportedly, after the typhoon, the provincial Women’s Association requested its affiliates at all level in the province to closely monitor, grasp the condition and damage in the localities, and promptly report to the authorities. The association has also requested the subordinated units to mobilize and encourage the members to actively carry out post-disaster environmental cleanup in the localities; cooperated with the local authorities to help those impacted by the typhoon, especially single women, policy families, people in the remote, mountainous, and sunken areas.

In recent days, the Women’s Association of Khanh Hoa and its affiliates have often visited, offered encouragement, help, and gifts to the families whose members were killed by the typhoon. The Vietnam Central Women’s Association provided Khanh Hoa Women’s Association VND41 million to assist the families whose members reported dead or missing in the typhoon, VND1 million each.
 
According to Le Thi Mai Lien, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Women’s Association, the women’s associations throughout the province are continuing to offer support to the typhoon victims; call for donations from the businesses and community to help the families of people killed in the typhoon and people whose property were severely damaged.
