The National Steering Board for Flood Control, Natural Disaster Relief & Rescue held a teleconference on December 23 to actively deal with Tembin Storm in order to minimize human and asset losses. The event was presided over by Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and attended by leaders of agencies and departments from Ca Mau to Kien Giang provinces, including Khanh Hoa.
At 7 a.m. on December 23, Tropical Storm Tembin was tracking 320km east-eastsouthward to Palawan Island, the Philippines with the maximum wind gust speed at 75-100km/ hour, at level 9-10. Over the next 24 hours, the tropical storm is forecast to move west-westnorth at 20-25km/h across the Philippines to the coast of the East Sea. At 7am on December 24, the tropical storm will be 380km east of the Spratly Island with the maximum wind gust speed expected at 90-115km/ hour, at level 10-11.
According local authorities, Vietnam will suffer a record member of 16 storms and 4 tropical depressions in 2017. Tembin is known as the 16th storm to make landfall by the end of the year.
