The local authorities, departments, agencies and enterprises are focusing on developing Lunar New Year caring plans for beneficiaries of social welfare and the disadvantaged in an effort to make sure a warm and fulfilled New Year holiday for everyone in Khanh Hoa Province. 
 
Since late-December 2017, Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs has made a detailed advisory plan on New Year caring for social welfare beneficiaries. Vo Binh Tan, Vice-Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs says the Party and Government always care about New Year holiday for vulnerable people. Great effort has been made to assure a warm New Year holiday for all people. Accordingly, this Lunar New Year holiday, 19,144 poor households, 228 people aged 100 or more, 1,192 members of the association for the Blind, 6,611 people with metal disorder, 12 HIV/AIDS infected children and 126 social workers have been offered VND250,000/ person. Besides, more than 1,000 vulnerable people in the care of social service institutions have been given additional grants worth VND50,000/ person/ day.
 
More than 12,000 social welfare beneficiaries and  revolutionaries have received gifts worth VND200,000-400,000 each from the State President. Besides, Khanh Hoa Province has offered billions of dongs worth of New Year presents, VND400,000-850,000 each, to over 17,000 revolutionaries. In addition, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has directed local agencies and communities to pay monthly preferential grants totaling VND11.5 billion/ month to 7,919 revolutionaries before the New Year holiday.

At the recent national teleconference to review the labor, invalids and social affairs in 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked all ministries , departments and localities nationwide to focus on caring for New Year holiday of vulnerable people, beneficiaries of social affairs to ensure that all people could enjoy a happy New Year. Localities, agencies and organizations in Khanh Hoa have had plans on New Year caring for poor households, beneficiaries of social welfare and disadvantaged communes under the sponsor allocation by Khanh Hoa Party Committee and People’s Committee. Public participation task has been promoted to attract funding from businesses, organizations and benefactors to join effort to provide financial support for the needy and beneficiaries of social welfare to celebrate the Lunar New Year festival.
 
Vinpearl Company keeps providing support on the occasion of New Year season for the vulnerable and families affected by natural disasters. This year, 5,000 New Year gifts worth VND500,000 each are expected to handed over to families in need and severely hit by Typhoon Damrey in Khanh Hoa Province on January 22 to February 12 by Vinpearl Company in association with local authorities, says a representative of Vinpearl Company.
 
Moreover, New Year celebration for the disadvantaged and vulnerable people has been assured at social service establishments in Khanh Hoa Province. Le Hung Nghe, Director of Nha Trang SOS Children’s Village says the New Year celebration at Nha Trang SOS Children’s Village for 193 orphans will include a spring fair, a chung cake wrapping contest, a New Year meeting, lucky money offer, New Year trips, etc. More than 250 vulnerable people at Khanh Hoa Social Service Center will enjoy a New Year program with Vietnamese traditional cake wrapping and musical performance. 
 
Vo Binh Tan says all the communities in Khanh Hoa Province are getting ready with providing support for lunar New Year celebration. The Party Committee and local authorities at all levels together with many enterprises, organizations and individuals are joining subscriptions raised for the poor and those suffering from heavy damages in the typhoon.
