The work on the provincial road Cao Ba Quat - Cau Lung running through Nha Trang City and Dien Khanh District is nearing completion. Khanh Hoa People’s Council has just issued a resolution on naming this road after late General Vo Nguyen Giap.
Pham Van Dong Street in Nha Trang City is prolonged from Ho Tien, Vinh Hoa Ward to the junction of the National Road 1, Vinh Luong Commune. Therefore, Pham Van Dong Street will have a length of 16km, starting on Northern Tran Phu Bridge and ending on the National Road 1. 64 urban streets, including 4 inter-ward and 60 inner-ward streets in Cam Ranh City will have names.
Le Van Hoa, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture & Sport says after Khanh Hoa People’s Council issued the resolution, Khanh Hoa Department of Culture & Sport has sent a document to People’s Committees of Nha Trang City, Cam Ranh City and Dien Khanh District on propagandizing the road naming and renaming; historical events; and contribution and merit of famous or distinguished people whose names are chosen to name streets.
The department has also requested for installing street and public work name signs within 30 days from the effective date of the resolution and then reporting the results before January 25.
The street naming work is underway. Urban Management Offices of Nha Trang City and Dien Khanh District are setting up name signs and the work is scheduled to finish by January 25.

In Cam Ranh City, the progress of the road naming meets challenges due to a large number of unnamed roads in 6 out of 9 urban wards. So many roads need to be named, therefore, specific plans for funding and location need to be considered and addressed.
Cam Ranh City has finished the consultancy task done by professional agencies to help the city People’ Committee to implement the resolution and then the city leader will have specific guidance on street naming in Cam Ranh City. The result is expected to be reported to Khanh Hoa Department of Culture & Sport on January 25, says Nguyen Quoc Bao, Head of Cam Ranh City Culture & Information Office.
