Dozens of existing local roads connecting to the National Road 27C from Nha Trang to Da Lat will be closed and replaced by collector roads to improve traffic safety. The work is expected to begin this year.

At present, the National Road 27C has 80 linking points, including 24 under approved planning. In late 2017, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee decided to approve the location of linking points and collector roads along the National Road 27C. Accordingly, 29 linking points are approved and 40 others are required to be removed. Specifically, existing 27 linking roads in Dien Khanh District and 13 others in Khanh Vinh District will be closed. The road closure will be implemented in 2 phases, the first from 2018 to 2025 with 40% of inking roads and the second after 2025 with 60% of linking roads.

According to Nguyen Cong Dinh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, the detailed planning of collector roads along the National Road 27C is to assure traffic safety and improve road capacity. The work is expected to begin in populated areas.

The system of collector roads, over 44.8km long (both sides) is designed to cover 30.3km on Nha Trang – Da Lat Road running through Dien Khanh District and 14.5km running through Khanh Vinh District. The road collection road is designed to have at least 2 lanes, 10km wide at least at a speed capacity of 60km/hour. Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has noted that the system of road collectors must adapt to the approved local planning, especially with site clearance cost to be minimized.

The locality will make good use of the national budget funding to carry out the site clearance work on the national road safety corridor. Besides, all local funding and residents’ contribution will be mobilized under the motto “The State and people work together” to repair and maintain roads, take advantage of the national capital support to improve the provincial transportation system. In addition, enterprises’ funding will be raised for projects that affect the national road and the construction of collector roads.

Reportedly, Khanh Hoa Department of Transport has finished setting up planning landmarks, including 33 of type 1 and 414 others of type 2 and announcing the collector road planning as regulated.
