The schedule for trash collection in towns in Khanh Hoa Province has been made and accommodated to New Year's holiday nearly 1 month before Tet when garbage discharged is forecast to amount. Nha Trang Urban Environment Company has mobilized more staff engaged in waste collection and clean-up in Nha Trang City from February 8.
Tran Van Huong, Director of the environment enterprise (under Nha Trang Urban Environment Company) says from February 7 or the 22nd day of the last lunar month, the garbage discharged amounted up to nearly 600 tons/ day. During peak days, environmental clean-up workers will have to work overtime. Nearly 500 clean-up workers are mobilized and 660 garbage carts and 24 garbage trucks are working at full capacity. Besides, many excavators and trucks have been rent to support the garbage pick-up, collection and transportation. From February 5 or the 20th day of the last lunar month, Nha Trang Urban Environment Company joined with localities in Ninh Hoa Town to launch the environmental clean-up and propaganda before Tet.
Nguyen Thi Binh, Director of Ninh Hoa Town Environment Company says the waste volume is forecast to shoot up on February 14-15 or the 29th and 30th day of the last lunar month. Therefore, more clean-up workers and equipment have been mobilized to maintain sanitation and cleanliness. In addition, the company has trimmed, pruned trees and added ornamental trees to add to the urban attraction. The clean-up will be maintained on main streets on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day of the New Year. The post-holiday clean-up will begin from the 4th day of the New Year.

Nguyen Thanh Trung, Vice-Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee says the city People's Committee has a master plan on ensuring environmental sanitation. Specifically, each locality will do a big clean-up in residential areas 10 days before the Lunar New Year and keep the environmental hygiene with timely solutions to garbage disposal problems during the holiday.
Cam Ranh City has also assigned Cam Ranh Urban Joint Stock Company to actively coordinate with localities to have convenient waste collection plans to keep the city green, clean and beautiful during the festive holiday. The city has requested Cam Ranh Urban Company to boost the waste clean-up and collection during peak days. The sanitation work at crowded amusement parks must be ensured, especially from the 1st to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, according to Nguyen Thanh Trung.
