Information technology (IT) increasingly plays a prominent role in education management and teaching method innovation. The application of IT is identified as one of the 9 key tasks in education and training in the coming period.
Le Tuan Tu, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training says IT application has been promoted in education management and a database of education and training has been built to facilitate education management. Schools have remained and promoted the effectiveness of public service e-mail system and updated information on their websites, education management database softwares at http://thongke.moet.gov.vn; primary education quality database softwares. Online public services have been provided, giving better public access to administrative procedures with online forms, online application, school report via OTT messaging, e-mail and school websites.

The application of e-office software in education and training has improved accuracy and efficiency of organizations and thereby improved their level of service. The one-door software has enabled the public to get access to online public administrative procedures such as application for re-issuance of diplomas, school transfer, and registration for licensing educational establishments. The IT application has also proved effective in the management of official dispatch, professional management, exam organization, especially the exchange of information. The online portal is operating well and continues to be upgraded.
Online school report handbooks have been used since 2017-2017 academic year to boost the relationship between schools and students’ parents and the community. Professional development training courses and workshops have been held at the http://truonghocketnoi.edu.vn. All divisions of education & training and high schools in Khanh Hoa Province have had school connection accounts with teacher accounts making up 91.2% and student accounts making up 77.9%. Projectors, laptops, smart boards, etc have been used at many schools to keep learners motivated and actively engaged in their classes. More than 90% of primary schools have been provided with projectors and 12 schools with smart boards.
Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has signed a cooperation agreement with Viettel Khanh Hoa on IT application in education and training, period 2017 – 2020. Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has taken part in the competition “Hour of Code and YDI products” in the framework of the YouthSpark Digital Inclusion (YDI) project and won 2 excellent prizes in computer science products, 2 prizes for excellent teachers, 1 prize for active teachers, 1 prize for active schools and 1 prize for impressive moments. Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has also cooperated with Khanh Hoa University to invite Microsoft creative educational experts to open training workshops on inspiring creativity and improving high school teachers’ IT application skills in teaching.
In order to further effectively enhance the application of IT in teaching and management, Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has set targets to develop IT infrastructures and maintain synchronized, modern and secure information network. Accordingly, the e-office system will be applied by all educational agencies under Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training, Divisions of Department of Education & Training, Khanh Hoa Department of Education’s Office.
In addition, Student and staff record softwares will be ultilized to save cost and time taken as well as provide an information channel for whom it may concern. Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has also guided teachers and students to take advanatge of the teaching resources provided by the Ministry of Education & Training at elearning.moet.edu.vn in order to promote the teaching method innovation. These lessons are beneficial to self-study, improve students’ knowledge and facilitate teachers’ reference teaching content and methods. The Department will continue organizing activities to improve teaching staff, cadres and students’ IT skills.
