Khanh Hoa Traditional Medicine & Rehabilitation Hospital is a provincial 2nd ranking specialized hospital, providing the best traditional medicine and rehabilitation examination and treatment in Khanh Hoa. Besides, it provides initial examination for over 15,000 medical insurance card holders in Khanh Hoa.
Over 5 years, the hospital has always achieved and exceeded designed targets. Every day, the hospital receives more than 300 outpatient arrivals and nearly 300 inpatients, a five-fold increase compared with 5 years ago. The bed occupancy capacity reaches 100% of the plan.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Hieu, Director of Khanh Hoa Traditional Medicine & Rehabilitation Hospital says the hospital has sufficient professionals with 203 staff, including 32 doctors, nearly half of whom have postgraduate diplomas. The hospital is quite well-equipped. Various measures have been taken to improve medical check-up and treatment such as strictly following professional regulations on emergency services, diagnosis, treatment, medical insurance, medical records, patient guidance, etc.

In addition, the hospital has effectively combined traditional with conventional medicine, using such techniques as physical therapy, rehabilitation, acupuncture, low-capacity fiber laser, high pressure oxygen therapy, etc. More than 60% of patients have used therapies with a relatively high success rate. The hospital has developed over 1,000 therapies, including high pressure oxygen, low-capacity fiber laser, procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids; carpal tunnel syndrome treatment, ear acupuncture, embedding ear acupuncture, etc. Periodical scientific meetings and workshops are held with some 8 grassroots scientific researches effectively developed and applied on an average a year. In 2017, Khanh Hoa Traditional Medicine & Rehabilitation Hospital provided medial examination for more than 274,600 patient arrivals, 183.1% of the plan; inpatient treatment for over 4,500 arrivals, accounting for 111.3%; outpatient treatment for over 3,600 arrivals, accounting for 124.4% with a bed occupancy rate of 130%. Moreover, traditional therapies were used in treatment for 46% of arrivals with traditional remedies use reaching 52%. According to hospital quality criteria issued by the Ministry of Health, the hospital gots 3.58 scores. The hospital was classified as excellence with 96.6 scores towards increasing patient satisfaction. The hospital fulfilled its tasks on the project 1816 and community-based rehabilitation program in Khanh Hoa.
The hospital has gradually improved its medical treatment to meet the increasing health care demand. The hospital has built a general development plan, period 2017 - 2022. Accordingly, the hospital strives to increase patient beds to 280 and found additional wards such as a 5- sense ward, a surgery ward and a gynecology ward; develop some advanced techniques, namely gastrointestinal endoscopy, electroencephalography, anaesthetic acupuncture; and provide professional undergraduate training till 2022. With the current staff and professional techniques, the hospital will be able to serve more patients if it receives more equipment and infrastructure improvement in the time to come, according to Nguyen Minh Hieu.
