Traditional Youth Camping Festival, Hung Kings’ Camping Festival is held every 2 years. This year’s 8th Traditional Youth Camping Festival took place in Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province on March 23-24 with lots of exciting practical activities for the youth.
The event drew the participation of nearly 800 campers from 20 camps from districts, towns, city Youth Unions and Khanh Hoa Youth Union. Apart from the 87th Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union foundation anniversary, other activities included flash mob, musical performance, dancing, teambuilding, team games, folk games; camping photo competition, camp fire and so on.
Cao Thi Bi, a camper from Khanh Vinh District Youth Union has joined many charity activities. However, this is the first time she has taken part in such a big camping festival. “Here, I can learn many youth skills, teamwork skills, flash mob, etc. This is such a rewarding event for us,” she says.
In the contest of offerings to Hung Kings, campers showed their skillfulness with attractive trays of fruits, watermelons, mangoes, etc and food symbolizing the admiration and gratitude of younger generations to their ancestors. Especially, cute miniature camp gates made from bamboo trees, wood, etc brought great excitement to viewers.
Making miniature camp gates and arranging flowers helped the youth show their skillfulness and creativity while team building games such as decoding secret letters and communication strengthened the spirit of solidarity, mutual support, etc and thus improve teamwork skills.
This is the 2nd time Ly Ngoc Hung, Cam Ranh City Youth Union, has joined the traditional Hung Kings Camping Festival. “The camp provided a great opportunity for us to meet, have fun, develop a cultural lifestyle, practice skills and exchange experience in Youth Union tasks.
Cao Thi Ngoc Thanh, Khanh Vinh District Youth Union Secretary says 47 campers from Khanh Vinh District joined the camping festival, up 20 people compared with the last event. It is such a big event for the youth across Khanh Hoa Province. The event is even more meaningful for mountains areas where it is difficult to gather and organize activities for young people.
The event provided an environment for Youth Union cadres and young people to improve knowledge and sharpen Youth Union task skills to further promote the youth campaign.
