Procedures for the project on widening and upgrading the Provincial Road 3, Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City are being sped up.


Provincial Road 3 is 12km long running from Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City to the National Road 1, the section in Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District, has been damaged with many potholes for several years. In addition, the road surface is cracked by heavy loads, mostly caused by trucks carrying building materials for constructions in urban areas in western Nha Trang City.


Therefore, in a recent meeting with Khanh Hoa Party Committee, Le Thanh Quang, Central Party Committee Member, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Secretary confirmed the necessity to widen and upgrade the provincial road to improve traffic infrastructures in Nha Trang City, connecting the traffic system from the National Road 1 to Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue and into the city center. He required Khanh Hoa People’s Committee to urgently direct local authorities to organize the construction bidding.

The approved project contains 3 sections. The first section is 3.55km from Phuoc Dong Commune People’s Committee to the intersection at Phuoc Dong Cemetery. 2 new bridges named Phuoc Dong and Phuoc Thuong, 8m roadway wide and 2m sidewalk will be built.


The second section 9.65 km from the intersection at Phuoc Dong Cemetery to the National Road 1 will be asphalted, concreted and the bed-road will be widened to 9m. The third section from Phong Chau Street to the intersection will be built with 20m bed-road, including 12m roadway.


The project is expected to cover some 42 ha with a total capital of VND313 billion, including nearly VND110 billion for construction cost and equipment, and over VND140 billion for site clearance. The project under the BT investment form is scheduled to finish in late 2019.
 
While waiting for Khanh Hoa Department of Construction to complete the planning adjustment on the provincial road 3, Khanh Hoa Traffic Project Management Board is speeding up making the project to upgrade and widen the provincial road 3 to submit to Khanh Hoa People’s Committee for approval.


At present, site clearance plans have been made and the work is expected to begin this April, rightly after the adjusted planning is approved. Traffic safety plans for vehicles carrying soil, sand for projects in western Nha Trang City will also be made to maintain environmental hygiene for residents living in the project areas, according to the leader of Khanh Hoa Traffic Project Management Board.
