In recent years, enterprises in Khanh Hoa Province have focused on keeping the working environment safe and healthy, helping to reduce occupational diseases and accidents.
“Every year, workers are given safety clothes and tools and periodically provided medical check-ups and cancer screening. Besides, the enterprise has provided spacious kitchen and dining areas and served nutritious diets. The workshop has been upgraded. We feel secure at work,” says Vo Thi Thu Ha, a worker at Khatoco Ninh Ich Garment Enterprise, Ninh Ich Commune, Ninh Hoa Town.
Most of the products made by Khatoco Ninh Ich Garment Enterprise are for export. Our partners are always concerned about the labor safety. Proper workshop layout and arrangement are required to enable good and pleasant feeling at work; minimize and prevent hazard and waste emission. Waste is treated in separate landfill as regulated. Moreover, regulations on labor safety; fire and explosion prevention and control have been abided by. Annually, over 1,000 workers are provided training on labor environment hygiene; fire prevention and control, according to Le Van Hoat, Head of the Personnel Department of Khatoco Ninh Ich Garment Enterprise.
Vina Nha Trang Mechanical Joint Stock Company (Dien Phu Industrial Complex) has maintained a safe working environment. Every year, the company spends hundreds of millions of Vietnam dongs to upgrade its workshop; regularly invests in modern equipment to improve the quality of products and ensure safe machine operation. Approximately 400 workers are provided labor protection and safety skills; fire prevention and control; and periodic health examination. Around the company are lush trees to create an eco-friendly environment.
Phu Khanh Petrol Company has created a campaign to build a green, clean and beautiful working environment with labor safety and fire and explosion prevention and control. More than 500 workers have been provided labor instruction and training they need to do their job safely. Workers join effort to tidy up workplaces and take care of trees weekly. No labor accidents or incidents of fire or explosion have been reported at the company so far.
According to the leader of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs, enterprises have improved working conditions by upgrading workshops, investing in advanced machinery and creating safe and eco-friendly environment. Besides, much focus has been given on improvement of production machinery as well as provision of safety working clothing and tools. Annually, labor safety inspections have been conducted.
“Together with enterprises, Khanh Hoa Trade Union at all levels has developed the labor campaign, promoting green, clean and beautiful workplace. Labor creativity campaign has motivated staff to get engaged in research, labor innovation, production rationalization, contributing to ensuring labor safety. Therefore, in the time to come, we will expand the campaign in most of grassroots trade unions, especially small and medium-sized enterprises and capital-invested ones,” says Le Xuan Hai, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation.
