Ninh An Industrial & Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant has been put into operation under close supervision by local authorities and residents in Ninh An Commune, Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province.
 
The investor, Ha Quang Hoa, CEO of Khanh Hoa Urban Environmental Company says the plant has been operating safely since April 2 under close supervision by professional agencies, authorities and local residents. To be licensed, the plant has met regulations on technique, design and environmental standards under the National Technical Regulation on noise, vibration, wastewater, waste air and solid waste; together with technical management and solutions in response to environmental issues during the waste collection, transportation and treatment for recycling.
 
The plant has 8 industrial and hazardous waste transporters installed with GPS tracking systems which can help in emergency service response. Fire and explosion prevention and control and labor safety systems are available for use. All the activities in the plant can be tracked and monitored by electronic devices to make sure complete safety and security.

Ninh Hoa Town People’s Committee has founded 4 environmental supervision teams, each with 13 members, in charge of continuous supervision of the plant operation. The monitoring and assessment has found that the plant has met required environmental performance standards, according to Bui Minh Son, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Environmental Protection Agency, Khanh Hoa Department of Natural Resources & Environment.
 
Ninh An Industrial & Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant has a capacity of 100 tons/ day, with 3 industrial and hazardous waste treatment systems, including an industrial and hazardous waste incinerator: 1 ton/ hour, a liquid receiving system: 375kg/ hour, waste oil and oily sludge treatment: 500kg/hour and waste container cleaner: 350kg/ hour. Wastewater tanks after treatment have layers of French-made high-density polyethylene (HPDE) which is resistant to solvents. Water from cleaning waste transporters is also collected and treated.
 
At present, the plant has contracts on industrial and hazardous waste transportation and treatment with 42 partners, namely Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard, Khanh Hoa General Hospital, industrial zones and groups in Khanh Hoa and other partners in the Southern Central region and the Highlands.
 
Tran Van Minh, Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town People’s Committee says the town has founded supervision teams with members are from professional departments of the town and Ninh An Commune and 5 households representing local residents. The plant is reported to have fulfilled regulations required by local authorities. Everyday, 2 transporters carry waste to the waste incinerators. The waste is required to be wetted so as to prevent the emission of any dust during transportation.
 
Khanh Hoa Department of Natural Resources & Environment says the plant was licensed on May 31, 2016. Chairman of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has held talks with local residents about all their concerns and requests related to the operation of the plant. Khanh Hoa Department of Natural Resources & Environment has had environmental monitoring and assessment. Khanh Hoa Department of Natural Resources & Environment has invited Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology to monitor environmental data at the plant. Environmental monitoring and analysis have shown that the emission samples from incinerators and ambient air have met national environmental standards in accordance with the regulations of the Vietnam Environment Administration.
