The Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment has just sent a document to the People’s Committees of cities and provinces on activities in response to the National Sea and Island Week and World Ocean Day 2018.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment requested departments and the People’s Committees to focus on propaganda activities to raise public awareness of the State policies and law related to the national sea and islands pursuant to the National Commission of Propaganda & Training’s guidance No. 61 on the basis and historic evidence claiming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Spratly and Paracel Islands; marine management, preservation and sustainable development.

Activities in response to the National Sea and Island Week 2018 themed “Joining hands for the sea without plastic waste” and the World Ocean Day are underway nationwide from now to the end of June. The activities include beach clean-up, workshops on the natural resource  and management; marine environmental protection for the country’s socio-economic growth, and its sea and island sovereignty; commendation for individuals, communities and businesses’ great contribution to the proper natural resource use and sustainable marine environmental protection.
