In recent years, periodical medical check-ups have much improved at agencies and companies in Khanh Hoa Province, helping to prevent occupational diseases and maintain workers’ health.
In early May, Fujiura Nha Trang Company, Suoi Dau Industrial Zone provided periodical check-ups for nearly 300 workers. Medical staff of the Preventive Health Centers of Khanh Hoa Province and Cam Lam District gave general and sub clinical check-ups; reproductive healthcare for women, took blood tests, etc.
A worker named Le Thi Thanh says, “The Company invites doctors to provide us medical examination, medications and health care consultancy twice a year. Besides, the company gives safety clothes and tools and serves nutritious diets.” Periodical check-ups facilitate workers' early detection of their health problems as well as help the company to know about our workers’ health so that we can have more suitable production plans,” says the leader of Fujiura Nha Trang.
Khanh Viet Corporation is found to be a good example in providing health care for its workers as well as assuring a safe working environment. Workers are provided periodical check-ups and cancer screening twice a year.
Local agencies and companies have better fulfilled the regulations on providing medical examination for workers, improving the machinery, keeping the working environment safe and healthy. Annually, the local authorities conduct routine labor safety inspections of local agencies and companies in Khanh Hoa Province. Van Dinh Tri, according to Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
Khanh Hoa Center for Preventive Medicine periodically provides medical examination and manages workers’ health and cooperates with Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation, Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs to conduct working environmental supervision and food safety inspection at production companies. The center provides periodical medical check-ups for more than 21,400 workers in 2017, over 6,400 workers in the 4 months of 2018. Occupational medical examination has been given to more than 17,900 workers, of whom 40 have been detected to be infected with nicotine and 25 others with hearing loss caused by work-related noise.
Besides, since the beginning of the year, samples of workplace exposure to noise, vibration, dust and hazardous substances have been taken and measured at 42 companies in order to improve working conditions and provision of labor safety equipment, contributing to minimize work-related health risks, keeping the working environment safe and healthy and helping to reduce occupational diseases. More propaganda and training are needed to further raise employers’ awareness of their responsibilities in health care for their workers in the time to come.
