In recent years, many nursery schools in Nha Trang City have made innovation in education with kid-centered pedagogy in an effort to create opportunities for kids to play, have fun and explore the world.
2nd level national standard Ly Tu Trong Nursery School is recognized to have a beautiful well-designed campus and functional rooms. Classrooms are beautifully decorated with areas of building, reading, nature, art, etc. The learning environment includes physical activity rooms, music rooms, Kidsmart computer rooms, etc. Besides, the school has taken advantage of various fundings to innovate outdoor amusement playground to boost physical activity development education. Such materials as coconut ropes, bamboo sticks and wheels are skillfully arranged to beautifully enclose sand playground, walkway, mini soccer courts, traffic education corners, fold game areas. In addition, the school also organizes musical shows, folk games and other activities to educate life skills to kids.

8-3 Nursery School has taken full advantage of its multi-functional space, i.e. under stairs, with creative decoration featuring bouncy ball houses, mini gardens, relaxation corners, etc. The plot behind classroom buildings is decorated with artificial grass for kids to play and run around. School outdoor corner space is made good use with swings, huts, decorative artificial grass and especially a tree house which is kids’ favorite place to have fun and discover. Classroom toys and decoration things are made from materials available. Each classroom has open art space on the wall for kids to do anything they like, such as drawing, hanging or sticking pictures, etc.
Huong Duong Nursery School has developed a model “Project Based Learning” (PBL), a student-centered pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.
Principal Nguyen Thi Viet Ha says with the teachers’ support, instruction and motivation, kids become more eager to discover and learn new things through school tours and experts’ talks. Kids are encouraged to express their ideas, tell stories, sing, dance, make greeting cards, etc. The model is a fantastic way to increase parent and community involvement in your school in a truly authentic way.
Further education environment improvement
The leader of Nha Trang City Division of Education & Training says since 2017-2018 school years, Nha Trang City Division of Education & Training has boosted creating child-centered teaching environment at nursery schools. Nha Trang City Division of Education & Training has directly assessed 44/44 public nursery schools in Nha Trang City. Most of the schools have had well-designed classrooms with beautifully-decorated learning areas, helping enhance kids’ interest and keep them involved and motivated.
Outstanding schools include Ly Tu Trong, Huong Sen, 3-2, 8-3, Huong Duong, Sao Bien, etc. Some are small but with creativity to create perfect space-saving design. They are Phuoc Long, Hong Chiem, Hoa Hong, Vo Tru, Hong Bang and so on. Nha Trang City Division of Education & Training has organized study tours for schools to learn and share experience to improve their educational environment.
