A Russian Naval Pacific Fleet detachment comprising anti-submarine destroyers and medium-sized sea tanker docked at Cam Ranh International Port, Khanh Hoa Province on June 3, starting a visit to Vietnam.
A welcome ceremony with the attendance of representatives of Vietnam People's Navy, Department of Foreign Relations, Ministry of Defense Office, Vietnamese Army's Security Department was held at the port for the three ships with 819 crew on board, including 76 officers and 680 sailors.
The visit is one of activities contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries and boosting bilateral defense cooperation, including collaboration between the two navies.
During the visit, the Russian officers are scheduled to pay courtesy visits to leaders of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and the Naval Region 4 Command, and lay wreaths at a monument to Russian and Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed for regional peace and stability.
On June 6, the fleet will leave Cam Ranh International Port to continue their trip.
