SOS Children's Village Nha Trang has provided orphaned and abandoned children with a home and a family where they can get parental care and love.

SOS Children's Village Nha Trang is spacious and tidy with swings, sport courts and lots of shady trees like a beautiful and peaceful park. According to Director of  SOS Children's Village Nha Trang Le Hung Nghe,  SOS Children's Village Nha Trang has taken care of 48 children. The number increases year by year. At present, there are 14 homes with 169 kids and 17 SOS mothers who are taking care of the kids.

Each home has a name called after a bird such as Oriolidae, Garrulax canorus, Alauda gulgula, Procellariidae, Zosterops somadikartai, etc which remind of hopes and future. In each home, orphaned or abandoned children are cared by women dedicated their lives to being SOS mothers. SOS mothers raise generations of children as their own and meet their physical and emotional needs from infancy right up to adulthood. Their love and care for the children bring them family happiness, confidence and trust in life.

Apart from the 14 homes, there is a home for those above 14 years of age, a SOS nursery school together with other facilities such as soccer, basketball and volleyball courts; a vocational workshop, etc. Besides academic education, the village has also held extracurricular activities to help them to flourish and achieve all-round growth. The extracurricular activities include football matches, picnics on the International children’s Day, Kids Run tournaments, exchange programs with representatives of Uncle Ho Chi Minh's good children, painting contests, etc.

Thanks to the all-round education, the annual rate of good students accounts for over 50% and 100% of twelfth-graders pass high school graduation exams. Besides, some prizes have been won in sporting contests such as a championship in the football tournament of children’s villages, a championship in the summer mini-football tournament held by Nha Trang City Sporting Center and the first team prizes in the Summer Run contests held by Nha Trang City Sporting Center for many successive years.

For nearly 20 years, SOS Children's Village Nha Trang has cared for many orphaned and abandoned children in Nha Trang City and many provinces. Especially, the village has also received much material and spiritual support from local authorities, sponsors and donors.

Reportedly, many organizations and individuals regularly visit the village and donate gifts, school items and other facilities. Particularly, on the Moon festival and Lunar New Year, the village is filled with fun, joy, excitement and lots of laughter.

Many children have grown up in the village and become successful. Good examples include Le Thi My Nga born in 199, presently working at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Medicine & Pharmacy; and Nguyen Thi Hoai Tham born in 1993, studying aboard in Japan. Up till now, 68 children have matured and integrated into the community. 38 are married and have a stable family life.

“In the time to come, continued effort will be made to maintain supportive and healthy environments for vulnerable children to grow and develop physically and mentally. The village is a real home for vulnerable children, inspiring them to build confidence to overcome challenges in life,” adds Le Hung Nghe.
