Ethical and revolutionary morality education has been focused at schools and some improvement is still needed to increase the effectiveness.

Cam Ranh City Division of Education & Training has jointly held sightseeing trips for students of junior high schools, namely Tran Phu, Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Trong Ky to museums and revolutionary historical relic sites of Khanh Hoa residents in the resistance to French colonialism; exhibits of materials and documents about Vietnam’s Spratly and Paracel Islands; contests on telling stories about Uncle Ho and lessons about his morality and lifestyles, propaganda about the homeland’s sea and island; and visits to Gac Ma memorial site, drawing the large participation of students.

In addition, Youth Union organizations at schools have also made some improvements in the implementation of the movement on building Vietnamese youth model, Youth volunteers for the community’s sake, voluntary blood donation, summer volunteer campaigns, etc. The schools have also founded propaganda clubs against HIV/AIDS, smoking, etc; made youth radio broadcasts, programs on diary writing and “When I reach 18” together with other activities such as providing support for disadvantaged students, support for exam seasons; honoring “5-virtue students”, contributing to motivating learning and practice emulation among students.

Moreover, some schools have also organized sightseeing and study trips to Dong Bo Base in Nha Trang City and historical relics of unnumbered ships in Ninh Hoa Town; the historical knowledge contest “Ringing Golden Bell” and so on.

The ethical and revolutionary morality education integrated in subjects and extracurricular activities has helped raise awareness and improve ethics. Many students have shown their aspiration for volunteering for the community’s sake, says Le Thi Thuy Hang, Vice-Principal of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Van Ninh District.

Ethical and revolutionary morality education meets difficulties due to the lack of playgrounds, multi-functional halls, traditional rooms, psychological counseling rooms, psychological counseling staff, limited teaching materials, lack of funding, etc, according to Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training.

Next school year, Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training will review the policies for teachers in charge of Pioneers’ Organization task at schools to improve its activities; build plans on organizing summer camps for teenagers and children, focusing on creativity experience; give guidelines on creating cultural environment in schools; maintain students’ singing national anthem at flag ceremonies, break-time physical exercise; school and classroom clean-up activities for students; cooperate with  other agencies and localities to create playgrounds for teenagers and kids; organize annual dialogues with the youth to get their opinions and aspirations, reports Le Dinh Thuan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training.
