Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has directly given instructions on ensuring hygiene at school as stated in the guidelines given to primary schools in the 2018-2019 school year, according to Ha Van Thong, Chief of the Primary Education Office (Department of Education & Training).
The Ministry of Education & Training has just issued a document to request Departments of Education & Training of centrally-governed cities and provinces to give instruction on assessing current sanitation and hygiene conditions at schools to provide the basis for investment in sanitation improvement, building toilets and providing clean water in schools; prioritize local budget funding and mobilize social participation from organizations, individuals, businesses and other legal funding sources to deal with the lack of decent toilets and clean water supply facilities in schools; construct, repair and upgrade toilets and clean water supply facilities in schools to ensure the access to clean water or decent toilets before the start of the new school year 2018 - 2019.
In addition, the Ministry has also requested the departments to give instructions on proper use and management of clean water facilities to protect the environment and keep schools green, clean and beautiful.
Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training has instructed Divisions of Education & Training to direct and inspect the infrastructure preparation for the start of the new school year: school clean-up, classroom decoration, school gate and fence repainting to make schools green, clean and beautiful.
Schools are requested to make plans on investing in sanitary facilities to ensure adequate sanitation and hygiene for students and teachers together with toilet decoration ideas to create a clean and friendly environment. Especially, it is necessary to maintain regular hygiene education to improve students' awareness of proper use and protection of sanitary facilities.
Schools are required to focus on getting students involved in school and classroom clean-up and thus teaching them about responsibility, the value of labor fruits and helping them to become more aware of hygiene, keep their class, shcools and other common areas free of rubbish. Getting involved in cleaning will help promote collaboration and mutal support and team work as well as build life skills.
Therefore, schools need to boost propaganda and education to change behavior on personal and environmental hygiene knowledge and practice; launch a campaign on keeping school environment green, clean and beautiful, organize school-clean-up days to raise awareness of protecting the environment, schools, classrooms and sanitary facilities. All effort is to contribute greatly to improving students’ awareness of personal and environmental hygiene from primary school age.
