Over the past years, Khanh Son District, Khanh Hoa Province has assured the government openness and transparency about policies of the Party and the State, bringing positive impacts, contributing to promoting economic development and ensuring social security.
The construction of the 3.5 km road access to the production zone in Suoi Phen Village, Lien Hiep Commune has a capital of some VND2.5 billion funded by the socio-economic development program of ethnic minority people and mountainous communities.
When receiving the fund, the commune had a meeting with locals to get suggestions and expectations. After receiving the public approval, the commune worked with owners of lands affected by the project to mobilize land donation. Then, another meeting was held to inform about detailed land acquisition. Thanks to the consensus and support of local people, the road construction has been carried out smoothly, says Nguyen Doan Dat, Vice-Chairman of Son Hiep Commune People’s Committee.

13 households volunteered to donate land with an area of 2.7 hectares. Among them, Nguyen Huy Vu in Lien Hiep Village donated the most land. "My family has nearly 1.5 hectares of productive land in Suoi Phen. After the propaganda and mobilization of local authorities, I volunteered to donate nearly 5 poles affected to make way for the project. I think, what I have done is necessary for the common sake as the new road will facilitate travel and transportation of agricultural products of locals and my family as well,” says Nguyen Huy Vu.
The implementation of grassroots democracy has had positive impacts on local socio-economic development and security. Basically, commune has achieved 13/19 new rural construction criteria. The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and local mass organizations have effectively developed many models of mass mobilization and economic development. Information about policies of the Party and the State have been posted publicly and widely announced via the loudspeaker system. Commune officials have even made home visits to make sure everyone informed of the policies, according to Bo Bo Luyen, Deputy Secretary of Son Hiep Commune Party Committee.
At the recent meeting with Khanh Son District on the implementation of grassroots democracy in 2018, Nguyen Tan Tuan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council acknowledged the efforts of the locality. He also asked the district to continue making effort to promote the grassroots democracy effectively, provide support in fulfilling administrative procedures; ensure transparency and transparency in the implementation of policies on poverty reduction, economic development and social security.
In the 8 months of 2018, Khanh Son District reviewed 1,826 administrative documents issued by the People's Council and District People's Committee; carried out 2 administrative reform inspections; etc. Khanh Son District Fatherland Front conducted 2 thematic surveillance on the implementation of policies to support agricultural development in Son Hiep Commune; and provided support to build houses damaged by Typhoon Damrey in 2017 in To Hap Town.
