The work involves replacing old pillars with new everlasting reinforced concrete ones and pile foundation in compliance with technical standards; and building a new lane, 1m wide, for pedestrians. The rail bridge, 58m long, in Vinh Hiep is also rebuilt of everlasting concrete. The total investment in the 3 bridges is VND80 billion.

Work progress accelerated

60% of the work has been complete so far, behind schedule due to certain objective reasons which are claimed to include the too narrow project site over a large river; difficulty in material and machinery transport, unfavorable hydrological conditions, etc. Besides, this is the only arterial railway so the construction involves scheduling maintenance activities to minimize disruptions to train services and assure safety. The execution unit endeavors to complete the package by the end of October, says Thai Son, Chief of the bridge construction site No. 50 in Van Luong Commune.

According to the railway project management board, region 3, the execution unit has taken advantage of favorable weather conditions to speed up the work progress and disbursement for each package. Up till now, the bridge in Vinh Hiep Commune has been completed and put into use. The work on the two bridges in Vinh Ninh District has fulfilled 60-80% of the work volume and it is expected to complete this October.
The project contributes to improve rail safety, increase transport capacity and shorten the journey time.
