Two arterial roads, namely Nguyen Tat Thanh and Tran Phu – Pham Van Dong in Nha Trang City, will be repaired soon as urban road improvement to facilciate travel and assure traffic safety.

Nguyen Tat Thanh Road, more than 30.5km, has opened to traffic since 2005. This is a key link between Nha Trang City and Cam Ranh International Airport. The road is damaged in many sections due to a long time of use with heavy traffic volumes.

A high number of heavy trucks carring building materials has caused serious damage to the road, espcially the section running through Cam Lam District. Some vehicles sometimes leave load scattered along the road, causing traffic unsafety. Remarkably, vehicles running from project sites on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street are the most blamed for the road damage with potholes, fatigue cracking and heavy dust.

The same thing has happened to Pham Van Dong Street, which is also damaged because of heavy trucks carrying building materials. The most damaged site at the junction with the road access to Champarama Resort & Spa. The access is a dangerous curve with a high volume of heavy trucks. Over 1km is strewn with potholes.

After a long time of use, the streets have been damaged in many sections with cracking and potholes. The repair work is essential to facilitate travel and maintain traffic safety, says Nguyen Van Thuc, Director of the Rural Traffic Project Maanagement Board, Khanh Hoa Department of Transport.

Reportedly, Khanh Hoa Department of Transport has made a project to repair the two streets, starting with the most damaged sections to facilitate travel. Khanh Hoa Department of Transport has given approval to the economic and technical report and contractor selection. The Department of Transport is making preparation for signing a contract with contractors. The repair work is expected to begin in late October. The repair packages will be completed in late 2018. Besides, the traffic inspectors will enhance inspection and give fines to cases of overloaded vehicles in Nha Trang City, says Nguyen Van Dan, Head of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport.

Reportedly, the repair will be done with 50,700m2 patching to fill 3,500m2 of cracked surface on more than 6.2km of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street; 1.8km of Tran Phu – Pham Van Dong Street. The estimated expenditure of the two repair packages is some VND13.5 billion.
