Tropical Storm Usagi is now heading south and picking up strength on the way, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. 
 
As of 13:00 on November 23, tropical Storm Usagi was located at about 300 kilometers off Phu Quy Island  with gust at level 9-10, 75-100km per hour. The storm will travel west at about 10- 15km per hour over the next 24 hours, picking up strength along the way. 
 

 

 

 
Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the storm will travel west at 10-15km per hour and make landfall in coastal south-central and southeastern regions before downgrading to a tropical depression.
 
Due to the combined effects of the storm circulation and an existing cold spell, massive downpours totaling 200-300mm is expected to dampen Khanh Hoa from tonight to November 26. On the heels of deadly Tropical Storm Toraji, newly formed Tropical Storm Usagi will bring a renewed risk of flooding and mudslides in Khanh Hoa.
 
On November 24-26, a flash flood is expected to occur at level 2-3 on rivers with landslide on slopes in Nha Trang City, Cam Ranh City, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Son District and Dien Khanh District; flooding in low-lying areas in riverside areas and inner cities of Nha Trang, Cam Ranh and Ninh Hoa Town in Khanh Hoa Province at the natural disaster threat level 1-2.
