Nha Trang City People’s Committee has just launched a concentrated inspection campaign to assure traffic safety in Nha Trang City before and after lunar New Year 2018 (from December 25, 2018 to March 25, 2019). Accordingly, relevant agencies have focused on developing a variety of control mechanisms to assure road traffic safety and unimpeded flow traffic during the upcoming Tet holiday.
Smooth and safe traffic maintenance
Under the concentrated inspection campaign, Nha Trang City People’s Committee and traffic police have built plans to cooperate with relevant agencies on traffic flow distribution to prevent traffic congestion along some main streets and tourist attractions such as Tran Phu Street, 2-4 Square, Ponagar Temples, Long Son Pagoda, Cau Da Port, etc.
Nha Trang City Traffic Division is enhancing patrols in high-risk areas during rush hours to deal with violation cases of illegal street racing of automobiles, speeding, reckless driving, etc.

Nha Trang City Urban Management Office has sent a traffic regulation and control plan till 2020 and vision by 2025 to Khanh Hoa Department of Transport and Khanh Hoa Public Security to collect contributive ideas for the plan. After that, Nha Trang City Urban Management Office will complete the plan to submit to the City People’s Committee on Khanh Hoa People’s Committee’s authority for approval. The plan is expected to be implemented from February 1, 2019, according to Ngo Khac Thinh, Deputy Chief of Nha Trang City Urban Management Office.
Road space encroachment prevention and infrastructure improvement
Nha Trang City Urban Management Office has directed an interdisciplinary cooperation mission and 7 inter-ward missions, People’s Committees of communes and wards to boost the inspection and punishment on road space encroachment by petty shops, street vendors, for parking, etc on 12 main streets, namely Le Thanh Ton, Hung Vuong, Thong Nhat, Nguyen Trai, Ngo Gia Tu, Nguyen Thien Thuat and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai before, during and after Tet.
In addition, the office has accelerated the repair and replacement of street signs and traffic lights; construction of flood-damaged traffic works together with road surface markings, traffic signals, etc.
Besides, investors and contractors are requested to finish construction site clean-up before January 28, 2019 or the 23rd of the last lunar month.
The City People’s Committee has requested Khanh Hoa Police Security, Khanh Hoa Department of Transport to perform inspection and handle violations to prevent overloaded heavy vehicles, over 1.5 tons, from going through the inner city on Vo Nguyen Giap Street during rush hours.
Nha Trang City Urban Management Office, police and young vanguard will maintain 24-hour duty during Tet holiday in an effort to prevent traffic jams, ensure smooth traffic and minimize road accidents.
