The 2018 Contest on Youth Creativity & Business Start-up Ideas held by Khanh Hoa Youth Union has drawn hundreds of creative ideas and initiatives. This year’s event has the most creative ideas and initiatives compared with previous years. The initiatives are in a wide range of sectors such as farming, fisheries, forestry, processing, crafts, service, salt production, education, industry, etc.
The Contest on Youth Creativity & Business Start-up Ideas has been held three times and gained much progress in boosting creativity among young people. The number of entries has increased year by year, from 9 in 2015 and 33 in 2016 to 280 this year with the participation of contestants from Youth affiliations, universities, colleges across the province, just after 4 months of the contest launch.
The eligibility this year has expanded to Youth Union members of military forces and high schools. Contestant Nguyen Tri Duong (Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters’ Youth Union) has applied information technology in making visual aids for military training lessons. The initiative has been highly appreciated by the jury and won the first prize (awarded to two).
Luong Tieu Nguyen, Ly Tu Trong High School, Nha Trang City has introduced his “smart stick for visually impaired people”. The smart stick has such functions as detection of obstacles, heart rate measurement, blood pressure measurement, GPS tracking for the accurate location of the visually impaired, emergency press buttons, etc.
In agriculture, the model of planting apples in a net house by Nguyen Van Dien in Cam Thanh Nam Commune Youth Union, Cam Ranh City has helped reduce Tephritidae bites, thus saved cost and allowed high yield. The model of 3,000m2 of apple trees in a net house with a capital of VND60 million, after 1 year has brought a profit of VND143.9 million compared with that of VND77.7 million before. The model has won the third prize. The start-up model has received VND50 million from the business start-up support fund of Khanh Hoa Young Businessmen’s Association for development.
Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union say, this year’s contest has drawn a large number of entries. The eligibility has expanded and received more entries of high practicality. Sixteen projects have been chosen to advance to the final. Apart from awards, prize-winning projects have received funding from sponsors from Khanh Hoa Young Businessmen’s Association for further development. The next contest is expected to continue expanding to get more excellent projects, thus contributing to promoting creativity and business start-up among young adults.
