On December 2, the Rescue Ship SAR 27-01 of the Vietnam Maritime Search & Rescue Coordination Centre (VMRCC) brought an injured Filipino sailor named Niel Pasadas Veronilla born in 1998 ashore to Nha Trang Port safely for emergency treatment.
Earlier, VNMRCC had received the SOS signals for emergency medical assistance from the captain of Anangel Merchant (Greek) when the ship was 60 sea miles to the north-east from Nha Trang coast on its sea way from Son Duong Port (Ha Tinh Province) to Australia.
