Le Quy Don Gifted High School moved to new premises in Bac Hon Ong, Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City on December 10. The new premises inauguration ceremony is expected to be held on December 17.
Principal Nguyen Tho Minh Quang says the new school premises has sufficient infrastructures to basically met the learning and accommodation needs as well as other necessary facilities, including TVs for multi-media teaching. Some 200 students have registered to live in the dormitory in zone B. The new kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for dorm students. Registration is required for those who need to remain at school during noon break.
The school has assured convenient transport for students. Students can ride bikes, take rides or take a bus. There are two bus routes with public and school buses. More than 70% of the students go by bus. One school bus route departs from Cay Dau Doi or double-branch Banyan tree in Dien Khanh District and the other departs from Northern Coach Station. Each school bus branch has 5 buses with a capacity of 50 people each, departs from 5:55 every day. There is 1 bus every 5 minutes.
Le Quy Don Gifted High School has 768 students, grades 8 to 12. The new premises include building blocks for administration, normal classrooms, specialized classrooms dormitories, office of public affairs and dining rooms. The construction on the blocks for a school hall, a library, a sports hall, a football field, etc will start in the 2nd phase.
The first day in the new school location, many students have shown eager and excited. Phan Dang Khoa, 10th-grader, major in English, says, “At first, I felt worried because my house is in Vinh Ngoc Commune, far from the school. On the first day to school, I went by bus. It is very convenient. The new school is clean and spacious." “At first, I was quite confused and new to the surroundings. Now, everything gets ok. I feel comfortable here,” adds a dorm student named Cao Thi Anh Tho, an 8th –grader from Suoi Tan, Cam Lam District.
According to Principal Nguyen Tho Minh Quang, Khanh Viet Corporation has provided financial support for the school to buy a facility package of desks, chairs, beds and cabinets worth VND7.1 billion. The bidding package, over VND6.5 billion, has been implemented. The school has proposed the provincial People's Committee to invest the remaining money in such equipment as cameras, wifi, sound systems, LED systems in front of the school gate, etc.
The school has submitted the suggestion on student bus fare support to Khanh Hoa People’s Committee for consideration. Suggestion will be also given to relevant agencies to take measures to assure security and order around the school.
Reportedly, Le Quy Don Gifted School will continue cleaning up the campus and the surrounding; planting more trees to make it more beautiful and create more shade; making school maquette, etc. The school will also meet with students’ parents, the bus company and class teachers to get ideas and opinions to better meet the needs of students and assure favorable conditions for learning and teaching in the new premises.
