Universities and colleges in Khanh Hoa Province have organized practical activities to help students on the occasion of the New Year Day.
 
Five trips back home for the 2019 Lunar New Year have just departed, bringing more than 200 students home in central provinces. A bio-technology student named Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, K58, says, “I cannot afford a trip back home in Quang Tri Province for Tet. The free transport is so meaningful to me.”

At the see-off ceremony, Associate Professor – PhD Trang Si Trung, Principal of Nha Trang University advised students to take care to stay safe, especially when traveling during the holiday. School staff were also present on each bus to help giving safety instructions during the trip back home. Drinking water was also available for everyone. Especially, students returning to Quang Ngai were offered lunches on the way home.
 
In addition, 4 delegations of the university have also visited and offered VND2 million each to 46 needy students’ families in the provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Ninh Thuan. The university has also offered New Year gifts to disadvantaged students at the campus or assigned staff to pay a visit to needy students’ families outside Khanh Hoa Province on the occasion of the journey home for Tet.
 
Every year, some 100-200 students remain at the university during the Lunar New Year holiday. Many take part-time jobs to cover their study and daily expenses. This year, the university will continue offering New Year gifts to students at the New Year’s Eve party. Besides, a year-end exchange program will be held for more than 50 international students to enjoy the traditional Vietnamese Tet. Many students have registered to remain in Nha Trang City to do part-time jobs during Tet. Therefore, the university has offered the students free accommodation in the dormitory, according to Nguyen Dinh Khuong, Director of Nha Trang School Service Center, Nha Trang University.
 
The university has arranged 9 rooms for 75 students registering to remain at school during Tet. The university will organize a New Year’s Eve party for students on the 28th day of the last lunar month. The Study Promotion Association has just donated 30 scholarships totaling VND30 million to the disadvantaged, says Nguyen Dang Duc, Head of the Student Affairs Office.
 
The Pacific Ocean University (POU) has just offered gifts totaling more than VND10 million to students in need and offered gifts to its all 2,000 students on the occasion of the New Year Holiday, says Nguyen Thai Hoang, Head of the POU’s Consultancy, Enrolment & Communications Department. Nha Trang Technique & Technology College has also offered grants to students affected by the recent flooding and storms in 2018 to help inspire them to make further effort in study and life.
