Intimate international friendship

Over the past years, the 2 provinces of Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng (Cambodia) have effectively promoted the mutual support, cordiality and cooperation relationships, contributing to the traditional intimate international friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

 

Mutual support for development

 

For the past 52 years, since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, Vietnam and Cambodia on June 24, 1967, the friendship and cooperation relationships of the Parties, people and military forces of the two countries have contributed to maintaining the peace, stability, cooperation and development of the two countries and the region as well. Besides, the friendly relationship between Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng has been strengthened, promoting  the solidarity and mutual support in socio-economic development, education, training and national defense.

 

 

 

Since 2011, Khanh Hoa Province has granted scholarships to dozens of medical students from Stung Treng studying in Khanh Hoa. In addition, every year, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee directs Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters to organize a mission to Stung Treng to give medical check-ups and medications and offer house repair and construction grants for locals in Stung Treng. In the past 5 years, Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters has given medical examination and medications to more than 2,000 people and provided support in house repair and construction with a total cost of more than VND4 billion. Annually, Khanh Hoa Province organizes friendly activities with Cambodian students in Khanh Hoa.

 

Local agencies and departments in Cambodia have also joined effort in search of remains of voluntary Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their lives while implementing their international missions in Cambodia, showing the gratitude for Vietnamese support for the revolutionary cause of Cambodian people.

 

Over the past years, Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng have made great effort to promote cooperation in investment and trade and gained satisfactory results, contributing to the economic development of the two provinces in particular and the two countries in general. Many tour operators, namely TICTOUR - Khanh Hoa Trading & Investment Company, Mai Linh Group, Southern Central Region & the Highlands Branch, etc have organized sightseeing tours to Cambodia.

 

3 businesses in Khanh Hoa, namely Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest Company, Me Trang Coffee Company and 584 Nha Trang Seafood Company have opened their representative offices in the capital of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, so far.

 

Military cooperation boost 

 

Over the past years, Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng have enhanced their military cooperation. Under the plan of the Headquarter of the Military Zone 5, since 2011, Khanh Hoa Province has continued providing ten billions of Vietnamese dongs to fund the repair and construction of military buildings, clinics, halls, guest houses, etc; welcomed high-ranking delegations of the Royal Cambodian military forces, Stung Treng Military Headquarters, the Headquarter of the Military Zone 1, Cambodia.

 

Moreover, schools and academies such as the Telecommunications University and Navy Academy have provided professional development for thousands of Royal Cambodian military staff. The practical activities of the friendly relationship of the two armies and two neighbouring countries are considered as a base for opening new opportunities in national defense cooperation of the two countries.

 

The traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia was cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and former King No-ro-dom Shi-ha-nouk together with senior leaders of the two countries under the motto of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation,” In recent years, the two provinces of Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng have implemented several practical programs to continue tightening the cooperation and mutual support for the socio-economic development of the two localities; contributing to the traditional friendship relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, confirms Le Duc Vinh, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Party Committee, People’s Committee Chairman.
