Chung Cake Festival for the poor has just taken place with the participation of Youth Union members of agencies of Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters and Dien Tho Commune, Dien Xuan Commune, Dien Phuoc Commune, Dien Lam Commune, Dien Loc Commune, Dien Binh Commune and Dien Khanh District.
The Youth union members were divided into 6 teams joining such activities as cooking and wrapping Chung cakes, folk games and musical exchange. Already cooked cakes were offered to 27 needy families and beneficiaries of social welfare in Dien Khanh District and 5 needy Youth Union members of army forces. Besides, New Year gifts totaling more than VND14 million were offered to the families. On the afternoon of the same day, the Youth Union members grew 500 Hopea plants at the Battalion 460 and communes in Dien Khanh District.
Captain Tran Than, Deputy Political Commissar of Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters says the Chung cake cooking and tree-planting festivals are to educate the younger generations in general and Youth Union members of Khanh Hoa Armed Forces the traditional cultural beauty; and encourage the staff and Youth Union members to help poor residents, contributing to strengthening the solidarity between military forces and local residents.
