In recent years, Ninh Hoa Town General Hospital has been equipped with new modern facilities, helping improve medical treatment and save many severe patients.
In mid-February, Tran Van D, 64 years old, Van Ninh District was hospitalized in a state of shock, low blood pressure with the bundle of nerve vessels in his right leg cut by a saw blade. A Trauma Alert Red – level A alert) was issued and within 20 minutes, an emergency surgery was conducted, transfusing blood, connecting arteries, etc. The patient survived the severe circumstance.
Similarly, in late 2018, the hospital rescued Nguyen Phuong T (25 years old, Ninh Trung Commune, Ninh Hoa Town) suffering from the rupture of a fallopian tube, resulting in severe bleeding. The patient was hospitalized in a state of fainting, fast heart rate and severe abdominal pain. The Trauma Alert Red was issued for an emergency surgery and the patient was saved.
These are among many severe cases successfully saved by the hospital thanks to much professional improvement, application of advanced techniques and new modern equipment. Dr. Dang Quy Son, Vice-Director of the hospital says the hospital has performed such advanced techniques as endoscopic surgeries in gastroenterology, urology, gynecology, otorhinolaryngology, hemodialysis; development of rehabilitation, oriental medicine; Longo procedures for hemorrhoids; GGT testing (hepatitis), CRP (infectious disease), FIBRINOGEN, etc. In addition, the hospital has been equipped with a 32-slice CT scanner, an additional defibrillator, a breathing machine, digital radiography, microbiological culture, procedures for antibiotic therapy, etc. The new techniques have helped save many severe cases, decreasing hospital transfer and mortality. Particularly, in 2015, the hospital successfully treated nearly 2,000 cases of dengue.

In addition, the hospital has improved its treatment procedures, shortening the waiting time; providing customer service, social work, e-invoices; creating the website, etc. From 2014 to 2018, the hospital tested and effectively applied 74 scientific researches in health care. Besides, the hospital has done a good job in mentoring for lower level health facilities; and provided over 560,300 free portions annually for poor patients and ethnic minority people. Patient arrivals to the hospital have increased. In 2018, the hospital provided treatment for more than 175,770 arrivals, reaching 100.44%; inpatient treatment for 22,370 arrivals, 131%; conducted 2,360 surgeries, 118%; with an inpatient bed occupancy rate of 105%.
From 2014 to 2018, the hospital won the title of excellent labor collective with an comprehensively strong Party Committee; excellent Trade Union and Youth Union; received many flags of emulation, certificates of merit by Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and the Ministry of Health. In 2013, the hospital had an honor to be awarded the certificate of merit by the Prime Minister. The hospital is making proposal for the 3rd class labor medal award. In 2019 and the following years, the hospital will continue effort to maintain the achievements; improve medical treatment quality; apply advanced technologies; promote epidemics prevention and control; strengthen infection control, enhance health patient education, etc.
Ninh Hoa Town General Hospital is the 2nd class hospital at provincial level. Although still lacking in labor and equipment, the medical staff have made great effort to improve medical care and treatment for residents in Ninh Hoa in particular and Khanh Hoa in general. The annual average patient satisfaction index (PSI) is high, over 80%, says Dr. Bui Xuan Minh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health.
