According to the leader of Nha Trang City People’s Committee, the approved traffic control plan meets 3 criteria for traffic safety; helps reduce traffic and does not use funding from the budget.

Ngo Khac Thinh, Deputy Chief of Nha Trang City Urban Management Office says the traffic control plan till 2020 includes compulsory one-way traffic for cars on roads with the roadway less than 7m; restriction of some vehicles in particular periods and rush hours; improvement of street signals and lighting pursuant to the national technical standards and major steps taken towards restricting some vehicles from entering the city center.

Ban on buses with 29 seats or above on Tran Phu Street from 2020

According to the approved plan, buses with 29 seats or above will be banned on Tran Phu Street as from March 1, 2020 when main streets connected with the former airport road network and road network to the west of Le Hong Phong Street are put into use.

Specifically, buses with 29 seats or above from the city center to Nha Trang Port run in two directions. The first direction is Le Thanh Ton, Nguyen Thien Thuat, the runway to the intersection of N3 - Road No. 4 - Nguyen Tat Thanh Street - Le Hong Phong Street - Vo Thi Sau Street - Round Chut Mount roundabout road. The second direction is Le Thanh Ton Street- Nguyen Thien Thuat Street – Hoang Dieu Street.

Nha Trang City has suggested Khanh Hoa People’s Committee authorize Nha Trang City People’s Committee to improve the radius of the intersection between Tran Phu Street and Le Thanh Ton Street; and the T-junction of Le Thanh Ton Street and Nguyen Thien Thuat Street to assure enough room for buses with 29 seats or above to make right or left turns to change lanes; direct departments and agencies to develop approved projects on parking lots; direct Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation to survey and give suggestions on temporary parking lots for transferring passengers.

Traffic flow distribution has been applied on some streets as from February 1, 2019 and will continue on other streets named Phu Dong, Cao Ba Quat, Tran Nguyen Han; Dong Da, Hoa Lu, Co Bac, Truong Dinh and Dinh Cu as from April 1, 2019.

The plan also gives suggestions on sidewalk management. Accordingly, the sidewalks are only for traffic purposes. Other uses of sidewalk must be permitted by local authorities. To minimize sidewalk encroachment, the city has a policy on fee collection on the other uses of sidewalks.
