The year 2019 has been chosen to be the Year of Youth Volunteer. Khanh Hoa Youth Union will hold a ceremony to launch the Year of Volunteer on March 1 with various volunteer activities engaged in socio-economic development in Khanh Hoa Province.
Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union says Khanh Hoa Youth Union will kick off the Year of Volunteer with a wide range of activities linked with the National Tourism Year 2019 and Khanh Hoa Youth Journey following President Ho Chi Minh's will throughout the year.
Specifically, Khanh Hoa Youth Union has directed institutions to implement charity work linked with social security, especially new rural construction, career development and employability support for the youth in March known as the Month of the Youth. Some 20 provincial level constructions are expected to be carried out. Of those, Khanh Hoa Youth Union will directly get engaged in the so-called “Lighting up rural roads”, using solar energy in lighting for 2 kilometers.
Khanh Hoa is the first province to use the renewable energy in the rural road lighting project. Solar energy creates clean, renewable power from the sun and benefits the environment. Therefore, residents do not have to worry about electricity bills every month. They just have to pay for the maintenance every year. Besides, the focus continues on building amusement parks for children and houses for young people in need.
New activities in the Year of the Youth Volunteer include the pilot of decorating power poles with drawings, assisting the installment of security cameras in high-risk places, and expanding the model on standard roads meeting 4 criteria, well-lit, green, clean and safe. Excellent Youth Union secretaries will be honored in March. The campaign also continues with practical activities to help improve moral qualities and skills of young people.
In order to effectively implement the Youth Volunteer Year 2019, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has requested that activities during the year ensure practicality and sustainability with focus on scientific work to protect the environment and respond to climate change. Besides, the activities are required to be regularly and effectively organized. It is also recommended that districts, towns, City Youth Unions and affiliations register specific contents for their activities.
The launch of the Year of Youth Volunteers will be held in Cam Ranh City on March 1. After the ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union will inaugurate the youth work named “Community education space” for children in Cam Ranh City. Youth Union affiliations will begin to implement activities already registered.
Khanh Hoa Youth Union Standing Committee hopes the Year of Youth Volunteer will attract the participation of many Youth Union members and young people. The youth volunteer campaign is expected to be practical and efficient, contributing to the local socio-economic growth.
