Garrisoned on Tre Island where there is inclement weather together with difficult travel and working conditions, officials and soldiers of the Composite Squadron 90, Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters have tried their best to overcome challenges to fulfill their political tasks as well as join effort to keep the environment green, clean and beautiful and protecting the sound cultural environment.
An impressive shady setting can be seen with full of trees and flowers along alleys and around barracks. Captain Nguyen Chi Linh, a commissar says the Party Cell issues a leadership resolution on environmental protection and landscaping every year.
Activities on landscaping and environmental protection are closely associated with emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Composite Squadron 90. Promoting the spirit of creativity, the officers and soldiers have joined effort to keep the environment clean and safe, planting trees and flowers; cleaning up and treating waste; and clearing sewers.
Whenever going through a forest or going on a vacation, soldiers find interest in searching for and bringing new plants home to grow at the unit. In addition to the concern from the Provincial Military Headquarters, the unit has mobilized labor and funding to develop farming, upgrade barracks, protect environmental landscapes; and expand green space with trees, rockery, yards and lanes.
In spite of the severe climate all year round, apart from landscaping, the Party Committee and leaders have also focused on expanding agricultural production and improving living standard of soldiers. Currently, their farm includes livestock with hundreds of pigs, chicken and cows together with an incredibly lush garden with all kinds of vegetables named Amaranthus, Ipomoea aquatica, Basella alba, gourds, etc adding to the variety of military officials and soldiers’ meals. Besides, a medicinal herb garden has been developed with dozens of kinds of traditional medicinal herbs which can be used for first aid for some common diseases.
The campaign on keeping the environment green, clean and beautiful has proved effective, contributing to improving military officials and soldiers’ mental and physical life; keeping the unit strong and comprehensive; and thus fulfilling assigned political tasks, says Captain Nguyen Chi Linh.
