Quang Hoi Fishing Wharf, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province has just been granted funding for construction. The project is expected to be completed in the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Quang Hoi Fishing Wharf is to replace Chua Tau fish market on Tran Hung Dao Street, Van Gia Town. Boats from Van Gia Town and Van Thang Commune dock at Chua Tau fish market to trade in seafood and aquatic products, causing environmental pollution and noise. This place is also for the transfer of aquatic food to farming areas inside and outside the province. Meanwhile, a spacious coastal embankment on Tran Hung Dao Street is being built to serve the local socio-economic development and meet livelihoods. Therefore, it is essential to remove the fish market.

After 4 years facing challenges in appealing to investors, Van Ninh District has asked for funding the project from the provincial budget and received approval from Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee. Accordingly, the fishing wharf will be located in Quang Hoi Village, Van Thang Commune. Vo Luc Pham, Vice-Chairman of Van Ninh District People's Committee says the project is to provide a place for anchorage for storm shelter in Van Thang Commune and Van Gia Town; a place for receiving, processing and distributing seafood; and providing logistics service for the seafood industry. Besides, the new fishing wharf is expected to create jobs, contributing to developing the fishing industry and improving fishermen’s life.

Quang Hoi Fishing Wharf includes a wharf which is designed to serve 300CV vessles. The 7-span wharf is 28m long and 8m wide. The access pier is 230m with 5 continuous spans and 11 spans, 4m each, 4m wide. At the continuous span No. 3, there is a bypass area, 12m long and 8m wide. All the spans and bridge surface are made of reinforced concrete. An access road to the fishing wharf is 173m long and 12m wide with 7m road surface and 2.5m sidewalks. The total land and water surface area is more than 10,800m2, including a workshop, power and water supply systems, sewerage and surrounding green space.

The project includes site clearance compensation for nearly 3.000m2 of land and resettlement expected to be in Lu field area, Van Thang Commune. The total capital of the project is approximately VND35.6 billion, including more than VND27 billion for construction and nearly VND1 billion for site clearance expense. The funding is from the provincial budget, according to Nguyen Phuong Phai, Chief of Van Ninh District's Finance & Planning Department.

Van Ninh District is making progress towards building the wharf with engineering design already submitted to Khanh Hoa Department of transport for assessment. The bidding is expected to be held this April and the work will begin in May and finish in the 2nd quarter of 2020. As planned, Quang Hoi Fishing Wharf will be upgraded into a fishing port in the period 2020-2025, meeting the anchorage and logistics service for northern communes in the district, says the leader of the District Management Board of Construction Projects.
